Baden-Baden authorities conduct joint inspections of catering businesses

Authorities conducted a joint inspection of 13 catering businesses and 45 employees in Baden-Baden on August 14, 2026. The operation involved the Office for Order and Safety, the Environmental Office, the police, and the Karlsruhe Main Customs Office's Financial Control of Illicit Work (FKS) Rastatt.

Inspectors identified various violations, including breaches of youth protection, catering laws, fire safety regulations, and the presence of new psychoactive substances. One establishment was prohibited from serving food due to food safety violations, and a shisha bar was banned from operating following violations of local ordinances. Additionally, two tax criminal proceedings were initiated.

During the operation, officials identified several immediate violations regarding illegal employment. One individual attempted to flee from inspectors but was apprehended by the FKS Rastatt. Subsequent checks revealed the individual was wanted for identification purposes due to outstanding payment claims related to benefit abuse. Extensive follow-up investigations are underway, including cross-referencing employee data with company payroll and financial records.
