Baden-Baden cat causes apartment flooding by opening faucet
A cat caused significant flooding in an apartment in Baden-Baden, Germany, during the night of August 19 to 20. According to the Offenburg police, the animal opened a kitchen faucet while its owner was away, causing water to spread through multiple rooms and leak into a neighbor's storage unit on the floor below.
The owner discovered the situation via a remote surveillance camera and alerted emergency services. Firefighters were able to enter the residence using keys provided by a neighbor who was responsible for pet sitting. Upon arrival, crews used towels to temporarily contain the flow and advised the owner to perform a thorough drying of the premises to prevent further damage.
Authorities confirmed that the cat is unharmed and will not face any criminal charges for property damage.
