Baden-Württemberg Green-CDU coalition marks 100 days in office
The Green-CDU coalition government in Baden-Württemberg has completed its first 100 days under Minister President Cem Özdemir. Following a narrow election victory, the coalition has focused on its commitment to reducing bureaucracy through the introduction of a new ‘efficiency law’ aimed at eliminating various state reporting and documentation requirements by the end of 2027.
While the administration has made progress on deregulation, reports indicate challenges in streamlining the government apparatus itself. Despite the legislative progress, the summer parliamentary recess has impacted the speed of implementation. The coalition, which includes CDU leader Manuel Hagel in the Interior Ministry, is also navigating economic concerns and the transition from the long-standing leadership of Winfried Kretschmann.
