Baden-Württemberg Greens maintain lead amid rising AfD support
In Baden-Württemberg, recent polling indicates the Green Party remains the strongest political force with 30 percent support. This stability is reflected in the positive atmosphere at the party's convention in Offenburg, where Minister President Cem Özdemir addressed members.
Despite the Greens' leading position, polling data shows significant shifts in the political landscape. The Alternative for Germany (AfD) has seen a rise in support, reaching 23 percent, while the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) has experienced a decline to 23 percent.
Cem Özdemir expressed concern regarding the erosion of traditional mainstream parties and the growth of political extremes, noting a dramatic loss of trust in democratic institutions. He emphasized the need for the state to remain capable of action and close to its citizens to counter political instability.
