Baden-Württemberg historic castles and towns host Advent celebrations
Members of the association Schlösser Burgen Gärten Baden‑Württemberg have opened a series of historic castles, forts and gardens for Advent festivities. Events include Christmas markets, light installations, medieval fairs and seasonal concerts at sites such as the Wertheim castle, Bad Mergentheim’s Kurhaus, and Burg Stettenfels.
Gengenbach, a small medieval town on the edge of the Black Forest, is highlighted for its well‑preserved half‑timber houses, baroque town hall and former Benedictine abbey. Though less known than Rothenburg, the town draws visitors seeking quieter charm, contributing to Baden‑Württemberg’s record 24.1 million tourist arrivals last year.
