Baden‑Württemberg Urges Faster Climate Adaptation as Heatwaves Intensify

The Climate Advisory Council in Baden‑Württemberg is pressing the state government to accelerate measures that prepare for heatwaves and other climate impacts. Council deputy chair Dirk Schindler warned that “our analyses show that climate change changes far more than air temperature” and cautioned that adaptation efforts will hit limits without decisive greenhouse‑gas reductions. The council highlighted the unusually early heat days this year as evidence that the region must improve readiness for high‑temperature periods, protect natural infrastructure, and integrate green solutions such as urban vegetation.
