Bader Al-Akkad founds Phoenix United football club in Dubai

Bader Al-Akkad, a former football player originally from Manchester, has founded a new football club in Dubai named Phoenix United. Al-Akkad’s athletic career was interrupted in 2021 following a diagnosis of Hodgkin lymphoma.

After receiving medical clearance, Al-Akkad established the club alongside his brother, Amer. The organization aims to provide both sporting and academic opportunities for individuals pursuing football careers. Phoenix United is preparing for its inaugural season in the third division of the United Arab Emirates championship.
