Badminton tournament in Ciudad Juárez draws 100 participants

Approximately 100 athletes participated in a badminton sparring tournament held at the Gimnasio Municipal Urbano Zea as part of the Sport Fest 2026 activities in Ciudad Juárez. The event was organized by the Municipal Institute of Sport and Physical Culture of Ciudad Juárez (IMDEJ) through the Municipal Badminton League.

Participants included various ages and skill levels, ranging from children and youth preparing for the National Olympics to high-performance athletes. Notably, members of the Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez (UACJ) used the competition to prepare for the 2026 National University Games (Universiada Nacional). Israel Zepeda, president of the Municipal Badminton League, noted that participation exceeded expectations, signaling the growing presence of the sport in the city.
