Badner Bahn resumes full service between Vienna and Baden
The Badner Bahn railway line has resumed full service between Vienna Opera (Wien Oper) and Baden Josefsplatz following the scheduled completion of summer construction works. Starting September 7, passengers can once again travel the entire route without transfers.
Infrastructure upgrades on the section between Schedifkaplatz and Inzersdorf Lokalbahn included the renewal of over 2,000 meters of track, the replacement of approximately 2,500 meters of overhead lines, and the installation of four new switches. Additional improvements involved the renovation of several hundred meters of track substructure, the installation of twelve new signals, and the laying of several kilometers of new cabling.
With the resumption of continuous operations, Meidling station is once again directly connected to the Badner Bahn. The ticket office at the Vienna Opera terminus has also reopened. Simone Schaller-Galler, Managing Director of Wiener Lokalbahnen, stated that renewing track infrastructure is a priority to ensure the line remains safe, reliable, and punctual in the future.
