Badolato hosts cinema festival to discuss future of small towns

The cinematic review “Ciak. Si Beve!” recently took place in Badolato, Calabria, focusing on the future possibilities of small towns and internal areas. Organized by the Club dei Vedovi Neri di Badolato and coordinated by the Compagnia Teatro del Carro, the event drew citizens, tourists, and activists to Piazza San Nicola.

The initiative combined visual storytelling with discussions regarding regional depopulation. This year’s edition held symbolic weight as it approached the 40th anniversary of the 1986 media provocation “Badolato paese in vendita in Calabria,” which was used to highlight the risks of abandonment in Southern Italy. The program included a narrative walk through the village alleys and the screening of the documentary “Ritorno al tratturo” by Francesco Cordio and Filippo Tantillo.
