Badrinath Dham: Two elderly sisters die at Tapt Kund

Two elderly sisters from the Bhilwara district of Rajasthan died on Friday morning while performing a religious ritual at Tapt Kund in Badrinath Dham, Uttarakhand.

The deceased have been identified as 71-year-old Ramu Devi and 63-year-old Prem Devi. The women were part of a large group of pilgrims attending a religious discourse in the area. According to reports, the sisters were attempting to fulfill a customary vow of taking 108 continuous dips in the hot spring.

Authorities stated that the women had completed approximately 50 dips when they began to experience severe breathlessness. It is believed that the combination of physical strain, thermal exposure, and low oxygen levels at the high-altitude site caused them to lose consciousness and collapse into the water. Although bystanders pulled them from the pool and attempted CPR, they were declared dead upon arrival at the Badrinath Primary Health Centre.
