BAE Systems cyber incident disables US bankruptcy notice system
A cybersecurity incident at BAE Systems Inc., the US subsidiary of the British defense contractor, has taken the Bankruptcy Noticing Center (BNC) offline since October 9. The BNC is the critical system used by federal bankruptcy courts across the United States to generate and distribute official notices, messages to creditors, and deadline notifications.
The Administrative Office of the US Courts (AOUSC) confirmed that the incident has halted the production and distribution of bankruptcy notices. Several key websites are currently unavailable, including bnc.uscourts.gov, bankruptcynotices.uscourts.gov, notices.uscourts.gov, and the National Creditor Registration Service. This disruption affects creditors, debtors, and attorneys who rely on these automated notifications for legal proceedings.
BAE Systems stated that the security incident is isolated to the BNC system. The company is currently investigating the matter and working in coordination with the AOUSC to restore operations, though no specific timeline for restoration has been provided.
