South Korea wins two gold medals at BWF World Championships

South Korean badminton players achieved major success at the 2026 BWF World Championships in New Delhi, winning gold in both women's singles and women's doubles.

In women's singles, world number one An Se-young secured her second world title. Despite recovering from a foot injury, she completed a ‘perfect game’ by not dropping a single set throughout the tournament. In the final, she defeated world number two Akane Yamaguchi of Japan with a 2-0 score (21-17, 21-14).

In women's doubles, the duo of Lee So-hee and Baek Ha-na claimed the gold medal, marking South Korea's first world title in this category in 31 years. They defeated the top-seeded Chinese pair, Liu Shengshu and Tan Ning, in straight games (21-15, 21-15). The victory serves as a significant confidence boost for the pair ahead of the upcoming Asian Games.
