Baekseok University hosts 19th Rainbow Village for disabled students
Baekseok University hosted the 19th ‘Rainbow Village’ event on September 21, inviting 106 students with disabilities from the Cheonan region to its campus. The event, organized by the university’s Department of Special Education, focused on the theme of ‘Science Play Festival’ to help students engage with scientific principles through interactive activities.
Participants engaged in various themed stations, including magnetic car racing, shadow play, and making tumblers. To support accessibility, the university provided transportation for students from schools with limited mobility or distance. Approximately 130 special education students from the university participated, working in 1-to-1 pairings with the visiting students to assist with movement and program engagement.
The annual community outreach program allows special education students to apply their academic training to real-world scenarios by managing everything from curriculum design to event operation. This year’s event coincided with the university’s 50th anniversary.
