Baena opens applications for 2027 King Melchor lottery

The Baena City Council's Department of Festivals and Youth has opened the registration period for citizens to participate in a lottery to select the person who will portray King Melchor in the 2027 Three Kings Parade.

Applications are being accepted from October 6 to October 20, 2026. The selection will be conducted via a public draw on October 22 at the Liceo Theater. According to Domingo Castro, the Councilor for Festivals and Youth, the initiative aims to involve residents in one of the city's most significant holiday traditions. A key requirement for the selected participant is that they must be present at the Liceo Theater during the draw to claim the role.
