Baeza LGTBI couple reports family harassment and violence

Three organizations—the International Human Rights Foundation (IHRF-Spain), Asociación Visibles LGTBIQ+ Jaén, and the Agrupación de Psicólogos y Profesionales para la Acción (APPA)—have issued a joint statement regarding a case of harassment and violence against an LGTBI couple in Baeza.

The victims have filed a formal complaint with the Guardia Civil, reporting a situation of “special vulnerability, violence, and suffering” allegedly perpetrated by their own family members. To protect their privacy and security, the couple has requested to remain anonymous.

The organizations emphasized that sexual orientation and gender identity should never be grounds for rejection, humiliation, or coercion. They expressed deep concern that the family environment, which should serve as a space of protection, has instead become an instrument of pressure and intimidation. The groups have called for a thorough investigation to ensure legal responsibilities are addressed if criminal conduct is identified.
