Bafra hay warehouse fire causes 20 million Lira in damage
A major fire at an agricultural facility in the Bafra district of Samsun has been brought under control after approximately 16 hours of intensive firefighting efforts. The blaze, which broke out on the Samsun-Sinop highway, is believed to have been triggered by sparks from a forage crushing machine.
The fire spread rapidly through hay, alfalfa, and dry grass stored in the warehouses. According to preliminary assessments, the destruction includes 6,000 bales of hay, 400 tons of alfalfa, 2,000 bales of triticale grass, and the complete loss of a forage crushing machine. The estimated financial damage is approximately 20 million Turkish Liras.
Emergency response teams, including Samsun Metropolitan Municipality firefighters and Forestry Directorate units, utilized multiple fire engines, trucks, and excavators to combat the flames and prevent the fire from spreading to surrounding areas. Cooling and control operations continued following the containment of the blaze. An investigation into the exact cause of the fire is ongoing.
