Bagerhat: Three arrested after seven-year-old girl found murdered

A seven-year-old girl, identified as Muslima, was found murdered in Mollahat Upazila, Bagerhat. The child went missing while playing near her home on Saturday afternoon and was discovered later that evening wrapped in polythene near a fish farm and betel leaf garden with her throat slit.

Following the discovery, angry relatives and locals attacked the home of a neighbor, Jahangir Sheikh, accusing him of involvement. The mob set fire to his residence, cowshed, kitchen, and betel leaf garden, while also engaging in looting and vandalism.

Police have filed a murder case naming four neighbors and several unidentified individuals. Authorities have arrested three suspects: Jahangir Sheikh, 55, and his sons, Ramzan, 19, and Abdur Rahman, 27. The Bagerhat Police Superintendent stated that the investigation is ongoing to determine the exact motive behind the killing. The situation in the area has since returned to normal.
