Bageshwar Dham vows 365 daughter marriages in a year
On 29 July 2026, Pandit Dheerendra Krishna Shastri, the head priest of Bageshwar Dham in Chhatarpur, announced that the shrine will become the first pilgrimage site in India where a daughter’s marriage is performed each day of the year – a total of 365 marriages annually – to help families in need. The ceremony also featured the unveiling and installation of eight Mahavir statues, which the priest said will become a spiritual centre for devotees. A large crowd of worshippers attended the event. Shastri stated, “A year has 365 days and Bageshwar Dham has become the world’s first pilgrimage where 365 daughters will be married in 365 days,” adding that the initiative will provide blessings and reduce reliance on occult practices, promising the grace of Balaji.
