Baglung district reports 646 dengue infections

Dengue infections are spreading across the Baglung district in Nepal, with 646 confirmed cases reported over the last two months. According to the Baglung Health Office, the virus has been detected in every local level within the district.

Baglung Municipality has recorded the highest number of infections with 459 cases. Other significant clusters include Kathekhola Rural Municipality with 45 cases and Galkot Municipality with 43 cases. Medical staff at Dhaulagiri Hospital report receiving between 20 and 30 new patients daily.

Health officials attribute the surge to increased mosquito populations resulting from continuous rainfall. In response, the Provincial Public Health Office has launched weekly ‘search and destroy’ campaigns at the ward level to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds in areas such as garages, discarded tires, and flower pots. Authorities noted that official statistics only reflect patients tested at government facilities, suggesting the actual number of infections may be higher due to testing conducted at private clinics.
