Bagmati provincial government expands cabinet with new ministerial appointments
Chief Minister Kiran Thapa Magar has moved to complete the Bagmati provincial government by appointing ministers to fill key vacancies. Rama Ale Magar was sworn in as the minister for Agriculture, Livestock, Forest and Environment.
The coalition government, composed of the CPN-UML, CPN, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), operates under a power-sharing agreement. While the administration has reached a level of completion, internal disputes regarding ministry distribution persist. Specifically, a disagreement between the CPN and UML over the number of allocated ministries has left the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Cooperatives vacant, with the Chief Minister currently overseeing its responsibilities.
Key appointments include Saral Sahyatri Poudel as minister for Economic Affairs and Planning, Bharat KC for Physical Infrastructure, and Gir Bahadur Tamang for Health and Social Affairs. Additionally, UML's Gyan Bahadur Tamang remains a minister without portfolio. The CPN continues to demand an additional ministry as part of the ongoing political negotiations within the coalition.
