Bagno a Ripoli municipality supports Gaza refugee family

The municipality of Bagno a Ripoli has launched a community-based integration project to support a family fleeing the war in Gaza. The family, consisting of a young mother, four children, and a grandfather, has been in Italy for approximately one year. One of the children requires specialized care following a severe motor disability sustained during a bombardment, which led to their medical follow-up at the AOU Meyer Irccs pediatric hospital in Florence.

The local administration has provided a municipal apartment in the Antella district for the next three years, with planned accessibility improvements. This initiative is a collaborative effort involving the Fondazione Giovanni Paolo II, the Tuscany Region, AOU Meyer Irccs, Calcit Chianti Fiorentino, and various local volunteer organizations.

Mayor Francesco Pignotti stated that the goal is to build a community capable of supporting the family's autonomy and dignity, helping them become part of the local territory. Welfare Councilor Sandra Baragli noted that the project aims to transform an emergency situation into a long-term path toward integration and independence.
