Bagnères-de-Bigorre launches 1 million euro infrastructure project
The city of Bagnères-de-Bigorre has launched a major infrastructure modernization project in the Barrans district, valued at over 1 million euros. The works, scheduled to continue until the end of 2027, aim to renovate sanitation, drinking water, and lighting networks.
The project specifically targets Rue du 8-Mai-1945 and Impasse du Lièvre to address issues with parasitic water infiltration that threatens to saturate the local wastewater treatment plant during heavy rainfall. Key actions include separating sanitation networks, disconnecting storm basins and drains, and renewing drinking water pipes. Additionally, dry networks such as electricity, telecommunications, and lighting will be moved underground, allowing for the removal of utility poles.
Preparations including surveys and private property works will begin this autumn. Construction at Impasse du Lièvre is expected from October to December, followed by work on Rue du 8-Mai-1945 from December through June 2027. The project is funded at 1.05 million euros, with the Agence de l’eau potentially providing up to 70% in subsidies.
