Bahía Blanca: President Milei inspects multi-billion dollar RIGI industrial projects
President Javier Milei visited Bahía Blanca to inspect several major industrial projects incentivized by the Large Investment Incentive Regime (RIGI). The visit highlighted multi-billion dollar investments in the energy and agribusiness sectors.
Compañía Mega is implementing a US$365.4 million expansion to increase its natural gas liquid (NGL) processing capacity by 27%, a project expected to create approximately 770 direct and indirect jobs. This initiative will impact several provinces, including Buenos Aires, Neuquén, Río Negro, and La Pampa.
In the agribusiness sector, Louis Dreyfus Company is investing approximately US$400 million to construct a new soybean and sunflower processing plant. The facility is projected to become one of the world's largest sunflower seed milling plants, with an estimated daily capacity of 4,000 tons.
Pampa Energía is also moving forward with a major project to build a urea plant, representing an investment of approximately US$2.7 billion. The plant is expected to be the largest of its kind in the region, with an annual production capacity of 2.1 million tons starting in 2029.
Beyond the industrial tours, the visit served a political purpose, as Milei and his administration sought to consolidate the La Libertad Avanza party's presence in the Buenos Aires province ahead of future elections.
