Bahía Blanca woman sentenced to prison for extortion

Carina Pilar Gottau, known as ‘La Pili’, has been sentenced to five years and six months in prison by the Criminal Court No. 2 of Bahía Blanca for extorting two men. The conviction followed an abbreviated trial regarding two separate incidents of extortion.

In the first case, Gottau established contact with a victim via Facebook and WhatsApp. After exchanging intimate photographs, she threatened to leak the images unless money was transferred. The victim made several electronic transfers totaling 255,500 pesos.

A second incident occurred on May 2, involving a different victim. Following a similar pattern of social media interaction and the exchange of private content, Gottau demanded money to prevent the public disclosure of the images. The victim in this instance transferred 59,000 pesos.

Evidence presented during the investigation included screenshots, communication logs, and transfer receipts. Prosecutors noted that the threats included potential exposure of the victims' workplaces and residences.
