Bahía Solano and Nuquí promote tourism in Colombia's Chocó

The Chocó department in Colombia is highlighting its tourism potential in the Pacific region, specifically in Bahía Solano and Nuquí. Governor Nubia Córdoba recently announced the opening of a new airport in Bahía Solano, representing an investment of approximately 31.195 billion pesos. The new terminal covers over 2,200 square meters and is intended to boost the local economy, particularly for the travel, restaurant, and hotel industries following a strong earthquake in early August.

Tourism activities in the area include whale watching, which is currently in its final season and expected to conclude by the end of October. Other attractions include surfing at Playa Almejal, visiting the quiet Punta Huina, and observing turtle nesting at Playa Cuevita. In Nuquí, visitors can engage in nature-focused activities such as extreme sports, visiting natural hot springs, and participating in turtle release programs.
