Bahamas environmental professionals complete marine conservation training

Thirty-six environmental professionals have completed a three-day Management Effectiveness Tracking Tool (METT) training workshop at the Office of the Prime Minister in The Bahamas. Hosted by the Bahamas Project for Marine Conservation (BPMC), the workshop concludes several months of assessing 70 Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) across the country.

The METT training represents the third milestone of a 15-year initiative aimed at developing management plans for marine protected areas and establishing a baseline for long-term measurement. The training is designed to build capacity and ensure continuity for future management effectiveness assessments.

The project involves coordination between the Project Management Unit (PMU) and several partners, including the Bahamas National Trust (BNT), the Department of Marine Resources (DMR), the Forestry Unit, the Department of Environmental Planning and Protection (DEPP), and the Bahamas Protected Areas Fund (BPAF).
