Bahamas FNM leadership faces internal tension after leaked audio

Leaked audio from a private Free National Movement (FNM) conclave held at St. John’s College has sparked internal controversy within the party. In the recording, Long Island MP Andre Rollins challenges post-election research regarding the party’s performance and the electoral appeal of leader Michael Pintard.

Rollins specifically questioned the characterization of Grand Bahama as an FNM stronghold, noting that the party’s margin of victory there was narrow. He also contested the idea of Pintard being an electoral asset, citing research suggesting only 8% support for the leader in New Providence. Rollins argued that the party cannot succeed if it avoids uncomfortable truths.

FNM Chairman Dr. Duane Sands described the leak of the private discussion as a “betrayal of trust.” The incident occurs amid ongoing questions regarding party leadership following recent by-election defeats and ahead of the 2026 general election. Reports suggest Rollins may consider a run for leadership alongside other MPs.
