Bahçeşehir University hosts Istanbul International Summer Music Academy gala

The second Istanbul International Summer Music Academy, organized by the Bahçeşehir University (BAU) Conservatory, concluded with a gala concert at the university’s South Campus in Beşiktaş. The event followed a five-day intensive program held from August 12 to 16, which brought together international artists, educators, and young musicians.

The gala featured a flute orchestra and guest soloists performing a diverse repertoire. Notably, the concert included Turkish premieres of several works, including arrangements of pieces by Koeluch and Offenbach. One highlight was a clever adaptation of a Koeluch concerto, originally written for four hands and a symphonic orchestra, rearranged specifically for the flute orchestra.

The academy’s international faculty included professors and soloists from the Nice Conservatory (France), the Geneva Conservatory (Switzerland), the Lyon State Orchestra (France), and the Irish Heritage Orchestra (Ireland). Organizers emphasized the academy's role in fostering international cooperation and providing young musicians with exposure to global artistic standards.
