Bahçelievler: Body found in elevator shaft of abandoned building

A body was discovered in the elevator shaft of an abandoned building in the Siyavuşpaşa neighborhood of Bahçelievler, Istanbul. The discovery was made on Monday, August 24, at approximately 22:35, when two individuals, identified as A. E. (29) and İ. A. (41), entered the building with the intent to commit theft.

Emergency services, including police, firefighters, and medical teams, responded to the scene. To preserve the integrity of the body, firefighters first drained the water that had accumulated in the elevator shaft. The deceased was subsequently recovered and transported to the Forensic Medicine Institute to determine the identity and exact cause of death.

The building has reportedly been vacant for a long period following a legal dispute between the owner and a neighbor regarding property boundaries, which resulted in a court order to halt construction. Local residents noted that the building has faced ongoing issues and has previously been used as a shelter by homeless individuals.
