Bahia agricultural production reaches R$ 56.2 billion in 2025
Bahia's agricultural production reached R$ 56.23 billion in 2025, accounting for approximately 6.1% of Brazil's total national production. The state maintains its position as the seventh largest producer in the country and leads the Northeast region, contributing 49% of the region's total agricultural value.
Grain production saw a 13.3% increase, reaching 13.76 million tons, the highest volume recorded between 2015 and 2025. This growth was driven by an expansion in harvested area, which rose 5.2% to 3.49 million hectares, primarily due to increased soybean and cotton cultivation. Grains generated R$ 28.12 billion, while fruit production contributed R$ 8.95 billion.
Soybeans remain the state's primary agricultural product with a production value of R$ 16.55 billion. Other significant contributors include cotton (R$ 7.85 billion), coffee (R$ 6.91 billion), cocoa (R$ 5.80 billion), and corn (R$ 2.93 billion). The western region of Bahia, particularly the Rio Grande Basin, serves as a major economic driver, with the municipalities of São Desidério and Formosa do Rio Preto ranking first and second nationally in soybean production, respectively.
