Brazil sports: Regional football and school competitions underway
Various regional and national sports competitions are underway across Brazil, spanning school athletics, football, and water sports.
In Pernambuco, the JEBs Sub-18 Football tournament has commenced in Camaragibe following a technical congress to align operational details. Meanwhile, in Bahia, the Baianão Sub-15 and Sub-17 football championships are set to begin with 23 clubs competing in divided groups. The Baianão Feminino 2026 has also established its format, featuring 12 clubs divided into two groups of six.
School-level sports are also prominent. Students from Dionísio Cerqueira have advanced to the next stage of the Santa Catarina School Games (JESC) in chess, beach volleyball, and athletics. In Feira de Santana, the Copa Edu is utilizing volleyball, futsal, dodgeball, and basketball as socio-educational tools for municipal students.
In individual and specialized disciplines, swimmer Sofia Duailibe secured multiple medals at the Copa Brasil de Águas Abertas in Espírito Santo. In Santa Catarina, the Itapoá Surf Festival features legends like Fábio Gouveia. Additionally, the Interbairros Football Championship in Itabuna has identified 24 teams advancing to the knockout stage, and the Baiano Bodyboard Circuit saw Lucas Santos claim victory in the Pro category in Itacaré.
