Bahia Civil Police launch project to engage men in combating violence against women
The Civil Police of Bahia, through the Department of Protection of Women, Citizenship and Vulnerable People, held an edition of the ‘Papo de Homem’ (Man Talk) project in Salvador. The initiative aims to promote reflection on masculinity patterns and encourage men to participate in preventing domestic and gender-based violence.
The event, held at the Bahia Public Ministry auditorium, included virtual participation from security agents across all 417 municipalities in the state. It brought together representatives from various institutions, including the Military Police, Fire Department, Technical Police Department, Municipal Guards, Public Defender's Office, and the Court of Justice of Bahia.
Participants discussed the importance of respecting protective measures and gender equality. Authorities emphasized that security professionals serve as influential figures who can help foster a culture of protection and behavioral change to prevent crimes before they occur.
