Gusttavo Lima ordered to pay damages after expelling fan from show

The Court of Justice of Piauí has ordered singer Gusttavo Lima and the Marina Park Hotel to pay R$ 5,000 in moral damages to spectator Virginia Nogueira. The ruling stems from an incident during a New Year's Eve concert in Fortaleza in 2022.

During the performance, Lima accused Nogueira of throwing water at him and used the stage microphone to publicly reprimand her, calling her “uneducated” and demanding her removal from the event. The court determined that while the organizers had the right to ensure security, the singer's decision to identify and criticize the spectator in front of a large audience constituted an abuse of rights and caused public embarrassment.

Nogueira had originally sought R$ 500,000 in damages, citing the psychological impact and online harassment following the viral video of the incident. The court's decision holds both the artist and the venue jointly liable for the compensation.
