Bahia Court resumes international adoption processes
The Court of Justice of Bahia (TJ-BA) has resumed international adoption habilitation processes after a six-year hiatus. The State Judicial Commission for International Adoption (Cejai/TJ-BA) recently approved the first two habilitations, involving two Italian couples who began their application processes in Brazil in August.
These approved habilitations will be registered in the National Adoption and Reception System (SNA), granting them validity across Brazil. If a child in Bahia matching the requested profile becomes available, the commission will oversee the linkage process.
The resumption of these activities aims to prioritize the rights of children and adolescents to parental, family, and community coexistence. Additionally, the commission launched the ‘SEI Julgar’ module, an electronic information system designed to automate and organize judicial processes, which is expected to increase transparency and speed up adoption case results.
