Bahia court orders trial for four in Esporte Clube Bahia bus attack

The Court of Justice of Bahia (TJBA) has decided to take four members of the Bamor organized supporters group to trial for an attack on the Esporte Clube Bahia team bus. The defendants face charges of attempted qualified murder involving the use of explosive devices that pose a common danger.

The incident occurred in February 2022 when the team bus was targeted by explosives as the delegation arrived at Arena Fonte Nova. The attack resulted in serious injuries to goalkeeper Danilo Fernandes, who required surgery and faced potential vision loss, and defender Matheus Bahia.

In response to ongoing violence involving organized supporters in Salvador, the TJBA has also launched the ‘Paz nos Estádios’ (Peace in Stadiums) course. This initiative uses restorative justice techniques and dialogue to prevent conflicts and promote mediation among different supporter groups.
