Esporte Clube Bahia draws 3-3 with Chapecoense

Esporte Clube Bahia drew 3-3 against Chapecoense in a 23rd-round Campeonato Brasileiro match at Arena Condá. Despite leading three separate times through goals by Alejo Véliz, Kauan (own goal), and Nicolás Acevedo, Bahia conceded three goals to Chapecoense, including two from Giovanni Augusto, to secure their fifth consecutive draw in the competition.

Coach Rogério Ceni criticized the team’s defensive lapses and lack of focus, describing the ease with which the opponent scored as ‘inacceptable’. The result leaves Bahia in 6th place with 34 points, distancing them from the G-4 group. The team's defensive struggles away from home remain a concern, having conceded 97 goals in 56 away matches under Ceni's management.

Looking ahead, Bahia faces a significant challenge in the upcoming ‘Ba-Vi’ derby against Vitória on August 23. The squad will be missing young talent Kauê Furquim, who has been called up to the Brazil U-17 national team.
