Bahia attracts major retail investment and cultural film expansion
Grupo Hiperferro, a leading steel and hardware retailer operating in the Northeast, is opening a new R$7 million, 2,500 m² store in Jequié, Bahia. The outlet will serve construction professionals, industry customers and final consumers, reducing the need for regional buyers to travel to larger cities for a broader product range and competitive prices.
The state’s cultural sector is also set to grow as Bahia Filmes, the government‑backed audiovisual company, plans to open regional hubs in cities such as Vitória da Conquista, Ilhéus, the Chapada Diamantina and the Recôncavo region. Secretary of Culture Bruno Monteiro said the expansion will extend the company’s presence beyond its headquarters in Salvador, responding to strong demand for film production services throughout the interior of Bahia.
