Bahia expands Cristalândia Dam capacity to improve water security

The Bahia State Government, through the water and sanitation company Embasa, has published a bidding notice for the second stage of works at the Cristalândia Dam in Brumado. The project aims to increase the reservoir's storage capacity by approximately 40%, which is expected to strengthen water security for Brumado and surrounding municipalities in the semi-arid region.

In a separate development regarding water management in the state, local officials in Feira de Santana have called for improved measures from Embasa to address chronic water shortages in rural areas. Residents in several localities, including Santa Rosa and Caruá, have faced recurring supply issues. Proposed solutions include the construction of artesian wells, expansion of supply networks, and more consistent distribution schedules to help rural communities manage seasonal droughts.
