Bahia extends study deadline for Ford port concession

The Bahia state government has prolonged the contract for studying the privatization of the Miguel de Oliveira Private Port Terminal – known as the "Port of Ford" – until 30 December. The extension, approved by the state-owned company Bahiainveste, keeps the research cost at roughly R$ 584.7 thousand and assigns Infra S.A. (formerly Valec) to complete the work.

Located in the Port of Aratu in Candeias, part of the Salvador metropolitan area, the terminal was inaugurated in 2005 by Ford to handle export and import of vehicles produced at the Camaçari plant. It moved over one million vehicles before operations stopped in 2021 after Ford ended production in Brazil. Since 2024 the state has been evaluating a concession to the private sector; the asset remains among those awaiting a definitive exploitation model. The terminal covers about 18.7 hectares, can process up to 6,000 vehicles, accommodates ten truck‑trailer pairs simultaneously, and can receive vessels up to 200 metres long.
