Bahia faces potential R$ 33 million loss from player loans
Esporte Clube Bahia faces a potential loss of approximately R$ 33 million in revenue due to the status of its loaned players. The club has five athletes currently on loan to domestic and international teams.
Midfielder Cauly, currently with São Paulo, is unlikely to trigger a purchase option. He has not met the required number of appearances to activate a clause valued at approximately 2 million euros (R$ 11.3 million). His recent absence from the São Paulo squad is due to a precautionary measure following a nasal procedure involving medication on the prohibited substances list.
Additionally, Bahia risks losing revenue from attacker Kayky, who is on loan at Internacional. A contract suspension was agreed upon following an injury Kayky sustained during the 2026 World Cup break. Because Internacional is not covering his salary during this period and his return to play is uncertain for the remainder of the season, the club may decline the 3.5 million euro purchase option.
