Bahia firefighters report 29% reduction in wildfire heat hotspots

The Bahia Military Firefighters Corps (CBMBA) has completed 100 days of its forest operation, reporting a 29% reduction in heat hotspots compared to September of last year. The operation involves 189 firefighters and 44 vehicles dedicated to prevention and combat.

Despite the decrease in hotspots, authorities warn of increasing risks due to rising temperatures and low humidity. Meteorologists from Inema predict maximum temperatures exceeding 42°C in the São Francisco Valley and Western regions, with relative humidity potentially dropping below 15%. Many areas are entering the ‘rule of 30’ conditions, characterized by humidity below 30%, winds above 30 km/h, and temperatures over 30°C, creating ideal conditions for the rapid spread of wildfires.
