Bahia initiates cocoa crop monitoring to estimate annual production
The state of Bahia has entered into a cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock to begin monitoring cocoa crops. This initiative aims to establish an official annual harvest forecast for the state.
The partnership between the Ministry and the Bahia Secretariat for Rural Development (SDR) is designed to improve data regarding production volumes. This information will assist producers with planning, commercialization, and access to rural credit and agricultural insurance. The monitoring process will involve the Cocoa Crop Plan Executive Commission (Ceplac) and the Regional Development and Action Company (CAR) to strengthen research and production tracking throughout the state.
