Bahia launches 2026/2027 cruise season with high economic expectations
The 2026/2027 cruise season has officially commenced in Bahia, Brazil, with expectations to welcome approximately 180,000 tourists by April 2027. A total of 48 vessels are scheduled to visit the state, with 46 docking in Salvador and two in Ilhéus. The season opened with the arrival of the World Odyssey in Salvador, which carried roughly 600 passengers.
Local authorities, including the State Government through Codeba and Setur, are coordinating the reception of passengers and crew. The tourism season is projected to inject R$ 144 million into the state's economy. To enhance the visitor experience, Setur has organized cultural programming featuring local music, capoeira, and bilingual guides.
In preparation for the upcoming South American itineraries, MSC Cruises has completed renovations on the MSC Musica at the Palumbo Malta Shipyard. The upgrades include the introduction of the MSC Yacht Club, a luxury area offering private suites, gourmet dining, and 24-hour concierge service, as well as enhancements to the ship's spa and fitness facilities.
