Bahia legislative bodies honor community leaders

Local legislative bodies in Bahia, Brazil, have held ceremonies to honor significant community figures.

The Feira de Santana City Council is awarding the Maria Quitéria Commendation to lawyer and professor Carlos Eduardo Guimarães Araujo. The honor, proposed by Councilman Jorge Oliveira, recognizes Araujo’s services to the municipality and his roles as a professor and sectional counselor for the OAB-BA.

In Camaçari, the City Council held a tribute to the late Margarida Meier. Meier, the founder of the Parque Florestal Community Daycare, was recognized for her lifelong dedication to community education and her advocacy for local schools and childcare facilities.
