Bahia literary festivals announce upcoming editions in Ilhéus and Jequié
Two major literary festivals are scheduled to take place in the state of Bahia, Brazil.
The 9th edition of the Ilhéus Literary Festival (FLI) will be held from November 11 to 14. Centered in the city's historic district, the free event features the theme “How will tomorrow be? Answer whoever can,” focusing on topics such as climate change, inclusion, and indigenous peoples. Confirmed participants include award-winning author Itamar Vieira Júnior and Mariana Salomão Carrara. The program includes workshops, book fairs, and musical performances, with accessibility provided through simultaneous Libras translation.
Meanwhile, the 10th International Literary Festival of the Sertão of Jequié (Felisquié) will run from October 15 to 17. This edition honors the centenaries of memorialist Emerson Pinto de Araújo and geographer Milton Santos. The festival will utilize various public spaces in Jequié, including the City Council and the João Carlos Borges Historical Museum, to host writers, researchers, and artists. Activities range from academic discussions to children's workshops known as “Felisquiezinha.”
