Bahia municipal councils press for law enforcement and funding project reviews

In Feira de Santana, councilors from the municipal chamber criticised the municipal administration for failing to implement laws they had passed, such as the “Selo Empresa Amiga da Mulher” certification for companies combating femicide and the regulation of Uber stopping points. They argued that many approved measures remain only on paper because secretaries either ignore or deliberately bypass the statutes.

In Salvador, councilwoman Aladilce Souza (PCdoB) requested a 48‑hour postponement of two executive proposals under review by joint committees. One proposal concerns the allocation of the first tranche of Fundef precatórios—about R$93 million to roughly 6,500 former municipal teachers—while the other deals with indemnities for municipal expropriations. The postponement allows further discussion with the teachers’ union and additional analysis before the projects are voted on in the plenary session scheduled for 12 April.
