Brazil regional updates: Tax reform, job markets, and infrastructure

Various regional developments are occurring across Brazil, focusing on economic shifts, employment, and infrastructure. In Mato Grosso, Secretary of Finance Fábio Pimenta has warned municipalities about the upcoming tax reform. He noted that the transition from ICMS and ISS to the new IBS could result in an estimated R$ 10 billion loss for the state due to the shift from origin-based to destination-based taxation.

Employment opportunities are widespread. Chapecó reports 1,498 vacancies across 205 companies, while Sine-MT has announced over 2,100 openings. In Manaus, 897 positions are available, and Três Lagoas is offering 262 roles. Additionally, Senai and Petrobras are partnering to provide 20,000 industrial qualification courses with monthly stipends of up to R$ 858.

Infrastructure and social services are also seeing activity. Mato Grosso do Sul is advancing urban and road works across 79 municipalities to stimulate growth. In Porto Velho, the CadÚnico project is conducting mobile services to assist remote communities in accessing social programs. Meanwhile, Bahia has secured R$ 1.09 billion in new investments, expected to create over 6,000 jobs.
