Bahia Civil Police dismantle drug network in Operation Leakage
The Bahia Civil Police launched Operation Leakage to dismantle a major drug trafficking network operating across Bahia and Paraná. Investigations revealed that the criminal organization allegedly moved tons of cocaine monthly, transporting the narcotics from Paraguay through Paraná to various locations in Bahia.
The operation resulted in the arrest of nine individuals, including a pharmacist in Salvador who was allegedly involved in the scheme. Authorities executed 37 search and seizure warrants, leading to the seizure of synthetic drugs, firearms, precision scales, money-counting machines, and electronic devices.
To disrupt the group's financial capabilities, the judiciary authorized the freezing of up to R$ 25 million in assets and the seizure of 11 vehicles. The group reportedly utilized a large number of rented properties and vehicles to obscure their logistics and evade law enforcement tracking.
