Bahia police investigate arson and human remains at suspect's house
Police in Bahia are investigating an arson attack on a residence in the Guarani neighborhood of Vitória da Conquista. The house was reportedly used by a suspect involved in the kidnapping of an 11-month-old baby named Noah. Investigators suspect the fire may have been intentionally set as a form of retaliation.
During a forensic examination of the burned property, human remains were discovered. The Civil Police stated that the origin and nature of the bones are not yet clarified. While authorities are investigating, there are currently no indications of a crime directly related to the remains; investigators are considering the possibility that the bones were removed from a cemetery for religious rituals. The Department of Technical Police (DPT) has been tasked with analyzing the material.
The kidnapping occurred in the district of Ponto do Astério, in Firmino Alves, where an armed man in a black vehicle took the child from a public square. The baby was later located at a beach stall in Ilhéus and has since been reunited with his family. Two men suspected of involvement in the kidnapping were arrested near Ibicuí.
